The biggest mistake is designing for a full-screen drawing instead of the tiny piece players see while rolling. A detailed haunted mansion may look great on paper, but its windows, cobwebs, and facial features can turn into visual noise on the board. Tokens with one bold shape usually read better: a crooked candle, a chunky ghost, a possessed teacup, or a round monster with a clear expression.

The Token must fit the normal dome and sit correctly on the usual circular base. That sounds minor, but it affects designs with long legs, wide wings, oversized props, or a floating pose. Keep the center of the concept visually grounded. You are pitching something that has to look believable beside the existing collection, not just a cool illustration.
Outside logos, recognizable characters, and borrowed property should stay out of the artwork. Monopoly GO characters such as Mr. M, Scottie, and Ben Basu the Banker are allowed, as long as their basic proportions and identity remain intact. Giving Scottie a witch hat or putting Mr. M in a vampire outfit makes more sense than redesigning them beyond recognition.
