TORONTO — It’s official: Alan Roden has arrived. The Blue Jays' No. 5 prospect made his Major League debut one to remember, collecting his first career hit during Opening Day at Rogers Centre. The 25-year-old outfielder earned his spot on the roster after a standout Spring Training, where his performance turned heads across the organization. Roden’s milestone hit came off a Zach Eflin sinker a soft liner that found a home just out of reach of a diving Jordan Westburg at second base. It wasn’t flashy, but it was effective Angel Bastardo Jersey, sneaking through the middle of the infield and drawing a subtle, satisfied grin from Roden as he stood on first base. Known for his calm presence on the diamond, Roden let a bit of emotion show in the moment. The souvenir ball now sits in his locker though he’s considering handing it off to his dad. Despite the understandable Opening Day nerves, Roden looked confident at the plate Kelvim Escobar Jersey, finishing the day 1-for-2 with a walk. “I’ve been ready for this,” he said after the game. “I’ve been looking forward to it for a while, and when I got the call, it just confirmed everything I’ve been working toward. Out there, I just wanted to compete and do my best.” Roden’s journey is just beginning, but his first hit is in the books and a new chapter with the Blue Jays is underway.
