Use Siege-Specific Towers
Siege Maps in PoE 2 feature interactable defense towers, sometimes with Path of Exile 2 Currency craftable upgrades. These can deal massive damage or apply status effects.
Tower Tips:
Fire Towers: Great for high base damage and AoE burns.
Frost Towers: Ideal for slowing enemies and buying time.
Lightning Towers: Best when placed near spawn zones to thin mobs early.
Always upgrade your towers between waves, if the map allows it.
5. Bring Utility Flasks & Purge Mods
Siege Maps often include combinations of:
Damage over time (DoT) pools
Elemental damage spikes
Crowd control affixes (shock, chill, bleed)
Bring utility flasks tailored to your weaknesses:
Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz for elemental mitigation.
Staunching for bleed.
Warding for curse immunity.
Quartz Flask for phasing through chaos.
Purge bad map modifiers before starting. Avoid maps with:
“Less Recovery of Life and Energy Shield”
“No Regeneration”
“Monsters Have Increased Critical Strike Chance and Multiplier”
“Reduced Area of Effect” (if AoE-heavy build)
6. Time Your Cooldowns Around Wave Timers
Siege Maps are wave-based, meaning there’s a predictable rhythm:
Short prep period → intense wave → short lull
Use this to your advantage:
Prep defensive skills before wave starts (e.g., cast Bone Armour, Frost Shield).
Hold burst DPS cooldowns (like Vaal Haste or Warcries) for elite/boss waves.
Recast movement skills to reposition and avoid being flanked.
7. Loot Smart, Not Fast
Looting during Siege Maps can get you killed. Instead:
Ignore loot until wave ends unless you desperately need flasks or are near a break period.
Use loot filters to only show high-value drops (Unique, Exalted Orbs, Atlas Keys).
Consider holding off on portal drops until safe—some Siege bosses explode or spawn chaos zones on death.
8. Build for Boss Kill Speed
Each Siege Map ends with a powerful boss that often:
Summons adds
Has overlapping AoE mechanics
Enrages or changes phase at 50% HP
Tips for Boss Success:
Use single-target burst setups in a weapon swap or alternate link (e.g., switch from Clear skill to Barrage, or from Fireball to Flameblast).
Learn boss mechanics and telegraphs (most have wind-up animations).
Pre-stack buffs (like Charges, Warcries, Auras) during the boss intro.
9. Pick the Right Mods and Atlas Tree Bonuses
In Path of Exile 2, your Atlas Passive Tree affects Siege Maps too.
Good Atlas bonuses to spec into:
Increased Siege Map Pack Size
Extra Siege Tower Upgrades
Chance for Double Rewards from Siege Bosses
Chance for additional map drops from Siege completion
Also, choose map modifiers that buff rewards without buy POE2 Currency killing you, such as:
“Monsters drop x% more currency”
“Increased Magic Monster Pack Size”
